Sounds of Summer Free Friday Concert: Cityjazz Big Band
The “Sounds of Summer Free Friday Concert Series” begins June 8 and goes to August 3. The concerts are in the Midvale City Park Amphitheater, 455 W 7500 S. with lawn seating—bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The evening begins at 6:30 pm with free family activities including face painting, chalk and bubble fun, and the park’s splash pad. The concert starts at 7:00.
CITY JAZZ BIG BAND is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring the jazz musical art form to the public in a manner that is meaningful, educational, entertaining, and affordable. Cityjazz is led by Julie Christofferson, M.Ed, and by Emmy award-winner, composer, and arranger, Dr. Marden Pond (ASCAP), and features sophisticated and entertaining original compositions, along with various styles of big band contemporary and classic charts. The band performs for and supports many community events, has been the headline group for Utah’s Arts in Education and the Mountain West Arts Conferences, and has performed for the Excellence in the Community concert series.
