Bingham football experienced an unusual 2019 season. For the first time since 2011, Bingham did not reach the semifinals at the state tournament.

But this is a new year.

The Miners kick off their season Aug. 14 at home to Weber, a team Bingham dispatched 41-24 in the season opener a year ago. Other in-state non-region games the Miners are scheduled to play include Corner Canyon, Skyridge, Timpview and Westlake.

Bingham will look to avenge its 56-28 loss to Corner Canyon from last year as it takes on the Chargers at home. It will also take on 5A runner up from last year, Timpview, at the beginning of September.

The tough non-region slate will prepare the team for a region schedule that features Herriman and East as well as Jordan, Copper Hills and Riverton. The Miners tied with Herriman and East for the region title in 2019.

Mark down Sept. 25 at East as a game to watch as Bingham looks to avenge its 20-16 quarterfinal loss to the Leopards last year.

The Miners will face this season with a new coach, sort of. Dave Peck returns to the program he left in 2015. Peck had led the program for 15 years, winning five state championships in the process. He replaces his former longtime assistant coach John Lambourne, who announced his retirement after the 2019 season.
