Visitors at South Jordan’s art show that was held from March 16 to April 17 at the Gale Museum at 10300 Beckstead Lane could see the city’s appreciation of their historic and current creators. The museum has a model-T Ford car and displays that show examples of life in years past. This educates visitors about vintage life in South Jordan. The most recent art show it hosted with beautiful and unique paintings, drawings, photos, sculpture and even stained glass was testament the city is alive and thriving.

“This is the 18th year we have done the Art Show and we take Salt Lake County Residents as applicants,” said South Jordan Arts Program Coordinator Tiffany Parker. “The South Jordan Arts Council judged the Art Show.”

The brackets in application for those displaying their pieces of art were: Youth from 6 to 12; Teen from 13 to 17; Amateur adult ages 18 and older; and Professional adult ages 18 and older. Gift cards with a cash value were given as prizes. These prizes were titled as First Place, Second Place and Best in Show in their categories. 

“We had over 200 guests attend the artist reception, and the South Jordan City Council and Mayor Dawn Ramsey attended,” said Parker. “The mayor presented the awards to the art show winners that evening.”

Ramsey has mentioned the museum location’s popularity and how the Gale Museum is commonly referred to as a ‘hidden gem.’ This museum is a place that combines history and discovery. It’s a place where curiosity and educational displays naturally lead visitors wanting to see more.

Friends, couples and families commonly visit the Gale Museum. The museum is available to all ages. It will be open for 30 scheduled hours from10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Eye-catching and educational exhibits teach visitors about South Jordan’s back story. The museum also includes a free online presence with digital resources available for public access.
