In this role he works with university researchers across multiple disciplines and various state agencies and private industry to provide a strategic interface between commercial enterprise and technology research at the university. While trained as an attorney Mr. Buffmire has been in business development and strategy roles in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years. He was on the launch team and business development director for Sprint PCS, a Vice President of Business Development for a publicly traded Sprint Affiliate and a Director of Strategy and Business Development in the Unified Communications Group at Microsoft. He was also the founder and CEO of two telecommunication technology companies backed by Silicon Valley Venture Capital firms.
